Rate Notices and Water Meter Reading

28th November 2018

Rate Notices, which will include water usage charges, will be issued in February 2019 with payment due by 31 March 2019.

Residents may notice that officers are currently reading water meters at their properties, however knowing how to check for leaks and understanding how to read your water meter yourself can help you reduce water consumption and save money.

To determine if you have an undetected water leak there are a number of checks you can perform:

  • Turn off all water appliances on your property and monitor your water meter. If the meter continues to turn over you may have a significant leak somewhere on your property
  • Inspect your property to see if there are any puddles or wet patches that are not drying up as this may be an indication that there is a leak within the area

If you discover you have an undetected water leak that requires repairing, you may be eligible for a rebate from Council for part of the water consumption charge.

For more information on reading your water meter, including a helpful printable fact sheet, visit Council’s website, Detecting Leaks and Reading Your Water Meter page.
